Note-Taking Made Easy
Funded Aug 15, 2024Thank you again so much for your generous gifts of notebooks, highlighters, and glue sticks! As our school does not use textbooks, their primary reference for class is the notebook where we write definitions and examples and glue reference sheets. This week in Algebra 2, we learned about increasing/decreasing vs positive/negative intervals, so we glued a reference sheet into the notebook, then color coded the four different characteristics. It really helped give students visual clarity, and throughout the week, I saw students continuing to refer to this particular page.
Since many of my students are aspiring first-generation college students, I want to build their study skills, and I want them to be comfortable using resources instead of relying solely on me. The other day, one of my AP Precalculus students Zoe raised her hand to ask me a question about limit notation that we had addressed in the notes, so I asked her, "What does your notebook say?" "But why do I have to look when you could just tell me?" "Because I'm not always going to be here, and I want to make sure you know how to find the answer." With your generous materials, she is growing in independence and practicing skills that will serve her well in her educational journey. Thank you for your kind support for students like Zoe!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Choe
