  • Comfy Creative Corners

    My students are OBSESSED with our comfy corners. We love being able to take clam breaks, listen to stories in comfort, and act out sleeping in certain plays. The kiddos love having so many options for seating, and our behaviors are musch better with so many more choices. As an enrichment teacher I feel it is my goal to first create a safe space, but then to create a classroom that allows for creative expression, comfort, and a shift from the traditional learning of the day. Your donation helped me emphasize that sense of warmth and comfort. Thank you!”

  • Save the Day for Dramatic Play!

    Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. With these new dramatic play toys and learning areas my students have been exploring their creative side, creating new characters, and building every day life skills. This upcoming school year we will dedicate a large chunk of our curriculum to building creative play through story making. After watching the students play and learn and grow this spring, I realized that they had not had the opportunity for free dramatic play in their lifetime. Students of all ages were overjoyed with all of the new materials, and they would request to play with them every single class regardless of the lesson.”

  • Express Yourself With Puppet Play!

    Funded Sep 6, 2021

    My students come into Drama class each day and ask to use the puppets! They are engaged, creative, and honestly masterful puppeteers! I have loved watching their imaginations expand as they create worlds for the various creatures. Shy and traditionally quieter students have come out of their shell when using these fabulous toys. We are in the process of creating a puppet theater and storage area for the puppets so they can be displayed and used at an even higher level. Thank you again for your support.”

Thank you for considering donating to my fabulous students. This year we are creating a brand new elementary theater program for students ages K-5th! It is the first program of its kind in our wonderful city of Springfield MA, and I am incredibly excited. Theater helps students to find their voice and express who they are. Puppet play allows students of all abilities, backgrounds, and learning styles to express their own stories! Often when students are asked to speak for the class they are shy or withdrawn. When they use a puppet to speak for them, students gain confidence and feel that some of the pressure is relieved. I plan to use these puppets to reimagine classic tales such as "Chicken Little", "The Mitten", "Silly Sally", "Polar Bear, Polar Bear What do You See", "Peter Rabbit", and more! I also encourage students to tell some new stories of their own. In addition to storytelling, puppet play allows students to explore "point of view", and imagine how a character in a given tale might be feeling. This is a wonderful resource for all scholars, but especially wonderful for my students who have social emotional needs. Thank you for your time and reading a blurb about me and my kiddos! In the few weeks of school we have used one or two of the puppets I had from my childhood, and the students have soaked up every minute. I hope you consider helping us fund even more of this enthusiastic smiles!
