  • Meteorologists in Action

    Funded Dec 29, 2023

The materials in this project have been supporting students in different grade levels. An important part of STEM is providing students with background knowledge. My goal is for students to take charge of their own learning. What this means is that students read books and take notes on their own. My students LOVE reading! The books on weather have helped my 3rd graders with learning about different natural disasters. Additionally, my kindergarteners benefit from this resource since a big unit is studying the weather. My kids love learning new things and I am always grateful to receive support for this!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lainez

  • Organization-Nation for a Great Year

    Funded Dec 14, 2023

Thanks to kind donors like you all, I have been working hard at keeping the STEM room organized. Keeping a STEM room organized is crucial. Different grade levels and students go in here everyday! To ensure successful lessons and that student materials are organized, I needed different colored bins. I use a color coding system for student work folders, notebooks, and read alouds. The bins that were purchased for this project have kept the STEM room organized and ready to receive students . Over time, my goal is to add more bins to keep the organization going especially as our school continues to grow!”

  • Hour of Code Supplies

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Coding is an important part of STEM Classes. Each year every grade level has the chance to work with different coding and robotics units. It's important to teach students computational thinking since it is an essential 21st century skill. The materials I requested have helped students with: creating coding mats for Botley and bee bots! The markers have been used to create the coding mats and these materials supported an after school coding club! My students were so excited to see and use these materials when it came time to code. The themes for the coding mat were so creative! (Holidays, foods, etc).

    Thank you for this!”

  • STEM-Tastic New Year

    Funded Sep 15, 2023

All of the materials have been busy in use! The Lakeshore STEM kits have been added to our school maker space! Students have enjoyed visiting the makerspace whether it's for engineer design projects or student choice "free build" centers. The unifix cubes have been used to teach young learners about counting and stacking (important engineering skills), the chain reaction set has been used by by older learners during center time and the base 10 blocks have become an important part of teaching students how STEM is math! All of these materials have made such a difference in our STEM classes.

Thank you for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lainez

  • Sound on With Headphones!

    Funded Nov 9, 2023

The headphones have been so busy in use! Since receiving the headphones, students have been busy with: researching, reading books (natural disasters, insects, earth's systems, etc), taking notes from videos; and engaging in gamified activities (Kahoot, Blooket, nearpod). Having these technologies has enhanced my stem classes and student experiences. The other exciting part is that students LOVE choosing what color headphones they would like to use! Small things like this are so impactful. I enjoy using technology and the kids love it too! I am so grateful for kind and generous donors like you all for making this possible! THANK YOU!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lainez

  • Building and Creating Magic

    Funded Nov 9, 2023

Students have been working on using these materials for various activities and projects. A big part of the STEM program is to give children the hands on opportunity to learn through play. The materials provided have been added to our school maker space! Students have been using the materials for maker space centers, Stem challenges, and their favorite activity: free build! Free build is every child's opportunity to create anything that comes to mind. My goal is to always ensure I am nurturing students' natural curiosities. This would not be possible without kind donors such as yourself!”

    Happy Holidays and warm wishes,”

  • Materials For The STEM Room

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Thank you for brining this project to life! And on my birthday! It was a wonderful gift to open my email and see that the STEM room will be receiving additional resources. These read alouds will support our upcoming units/projects and the clipboard holders will be a game changer especially since clipboards are a big part of the STEM community. Again; THANK YOU!!”

  • Materials for Scientists!

    Funded Aug 21, 2023

Teaching STEM (or STEAM!) is one of the BEST parts of what I DO! I get to teach kids how to problem solve and make things! With the materials, we have been busy working on different projects! We used the big jugs of vinegar to study changes in matter and our 2nd graders will also be using them to study states of matter. We used flashlights to illuminate objects in the dark! And for our upcoming units, in the spring, Students will be learning about landforms around the world and how they are formed! We can't wait to use the globe to get a better look at them. The students are always eager to learn. And thanks to kind donors like you this is possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lainez
