Each of the items I am requesting has a specific purpose and special home in my classroom! I have started putting together a sensory corner for my students so that they can take much-needed sensory breaks to regain their focus and relax their minds. Unfortunately, I only have a small rug and a bean bag. Bringing in flexible seating will offer a perfect space for students to recenter and be calm. The sensory corner will also function as a behavioral de-escalation space and an alternative workspace. The phonological awareness centers and mathematical manipulatives are just what I need to differentiate learning for my students in a fun way. Students will interact with the centers and manipulative in small group stations to reinforce the whole group lesson. I am so excited to see how my students use the materials to enhance their understanding of newly taught materials. As a first-year teacher, there are so many classroom items I know will help my students learn in engaging and intentional ways, but the process of funding and purchasing the items is overwhelming! With the help of exceptional donors, I can successfully meet the needs of my diverse learners in an inclusive, interactive, and safe space.
