Manipulatives are important for developing the mind with the visual application, tactile experience, and fine motor skills. Having hands on experience using math manipulatives enables the student to learn in different ways. These materials will be used during whole group math instruction and small group math activities. Each student will have their own manipulatives to use to solve math problems. Having their own tool kit at their disposal helps to boost engagement in math activities. Students are excited to have their own manipulative tools with which to use, Excitement + engagement = Learning.
