The research is clear: students think more when standing at vertical whiteboards. To facilitate this, I ditched the desks. We have folding chairs for discussion, but there are occasions when hard surfaces are needed. Students are loving the deskless classroom and the collaborative mathematics environment that comes with it. On the occasions where students need a hard surface, we can set up these tables. But the real value is in folding them up and stowing them when not needed. Knowledge mobility comes with student mobility and so I ask for your help. Thank you for your consideration!
