Building a Classroom Library
Funded Sep 24, 2021Thank you again for providing these books for our first grade class! My students have fallen in love with the Magic Tree House series. Every Tuesday and Thursday during the last 10 minutes I will read a chapter of the story and project it on the overhead. The students have become excited to see what adventure Jack and Annie will go on next. I have even noticed some of my students check out Magic Tree House books when we go to the library each week.
My students have also liked the Little Spot feeling books. This has helped with SEL lessons and helping students learn how they have different emotions and what are different ways they can express those emotions.
I want to say thank you again for providing these books for my young readers. They are excited when they walk into the classroom to hear a new story that I have picked out to read to them!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Dellawar
This classroom project was brought to life by The Allstate Foundation and 2 other donors.Hands on Math Manipulatives
Funded Jan 18, 2022My students were very excited when they saw the different hands on manipulates that we would be able to use in our small groups and in our STEM centers.
All the students wanted to use the magnetic tiles as most have never been able to use them. Every Tuesday during the last hour of class students are able to go to one of 4 STEM centers and use the materials there. Everyone was able to rotate through the groups and use the magnetic tiles (it is a student favorite in our classroom)! Students also got creative when they were given the opportunity to build whatever they wanted.
Since obtaining the materials, students now have different manipulatives that they can use to solve problems during math. Some students found the ten's and one's very useful during our place value unit. Other students were able to use the bear counters when solving addition problems up to 20. We greatly appreciate all the materials that were provided and can't say thank you enough!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Dellawar
