Healthy Hygiene for Happier Students
Funded Oct 1, 2024As a classroom community we try to create a classroom that is welcoming and fun to be around. My students, aides and I understand how important it is to come to school every day. Unfortunately, sometimes we do get sick. When we do get sick we have to miss school and miss out on the lessons. We do not like that happening.
A way to present is from getiing sick and missing school we try to keep ourselves clean. My students sometimes need extra support with their hygiene and keeping themselves clean and organized. We used the wipes to clean out tables, the chapstick to keep our lips moisturized. We also try not to share classroom tools unless absolutely necessary, this prevents us from spreading germs. Having our own headphones has helped with this.
Thank you so much for keeping us in school and healthy!”

Funded Sep 21, 2022My students and I are using the games to socialize and strengthen our sportsmanship. My students are especially thankful for all the hands on games they are able to use. Every month we have a FUN FRIDAY on the last Friday of the month. We are all eager and excited for the day to come. Having these games and art supplies allows us to enjoy the joy of learning from each other. As an educator my favorite thing to see is when my students are interacting with ecach other, having these supplies have fostered that at a whole new level.
We were so excited to unpack the supplies and we went through each one together.
Thank you so much!”

Funded Nov 10, 2021My students were very excited to receive the printer in our classroom. We use it to print out documents that will help them in their independent living transition skills. For example filling out applications for jobs as well as for schools they will attend after leaving high school.
We are also very excited to use it to print out pictures and/or images that enhance out documents. The main reasons we wanted a printer in the classroom was to be able to print out on our own. I have set up all desktops as well as Ipads in the classroom so that the students will have autonomy on what they are printing.
My students were very excited to be able to type up reports and print them out. They also were able to make their vision boards for the 2022 school year. This was a very exciting project they were able to envision and produce that will help them the whole year.”

Funded Oct 20, 2021My class was very excited to receive their very own books, reading journals, post-its, bookmarks, and highlighters. It has been a lot of fun and an experience we thoroughly enjoy. We are currently finishing up the first boo, One Crazy Summer, in the series and look forward to finishing the series in the months to come.
Using these tools we were able to do a lot of close reading strategies and really get into the book. We highlight words we do not know and look them up. We also use the post its to annotate on the pages, things we connect to or have questions about. We do small summaries of each time we read in our reading journal and have discussions after.
This experience has brought us closer as a class and as individuals since we are able to talk about our feelings, what we connect to in the book, and also discuss with our difficulties with the reading. The book talks about the civil rights movement from a young girl's perspective, that helped us really relive the experience through a lens that we understood.”
