It definitely felt like a special holiday when our box of books from Donors Choose arrived! The kids were eager to dive right in and start reading!
One of my classroom goals was for each child to be able to see themselves in my classroom books. That was possible with your donation! We learned about different countries, different customs, and different languages! The books were so popular that we had to come up with a system of rotating them from person to person!

My goal for all my students is to realize, “There’s no person in the whole world like you, and I like you just the way you are!” (Mister Rogers) I want them to find themselves in books in my classroom library. I want them to celebrate their differences and the differences of their classmates! I want my students to develop a love of reading by looking at books where the characters look and act just like them! My students will learn comprehension and fluency strategies through reading these new books!
