This is my first year teaching and I would love the opportunity through DonorsChoose to obtain great supplies for my students. The air drying clay is a great medium to show the different techniques of sculpting. Our school does not have a kiln for pottery, so the air drying clay is a great replacement for all my students. This is also great to take home to their families on their learnings through art history & sculpting techniques. Many of my student have mentioned how they want to learn how to draw. Alongside some drawing comic books I picked up, the sketch paper will be great for them to put their new drawing skills to practice and give them more of a professional execution. Many of my students have also shown excitement for painting and creating their own masterpieces of art. The Tempera Sticks will allow them more control, while practicing the Elements of Art & Principles of Design. They will also be able to venture through the historical time of the Impressionist Movement while blending colors to create their own unique styles. Watercolors is another popular demand I have been hearing this week from the students. We already have some watercolor pans, but not enough for a class set. These would benefit all my grades along with the markers. Markers can also serve as watercolors when you add spots of water to your artwork. Music is also a subject I teach and I have noticed they learn more through hands on tools. I also like mixing both Art & Music. The Paint By Stickers I will be using as a tool to last year to year by making copies and having the students color with some of the tools I have ordered through DonorsChoose.
