The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The paper, crayons, markers, and other supplies of the sort will be used by the students, so that they may create books, stories, and implement important literacy skills. The journals will be utilized daily as a means for students to share their thoughts while expressing themselves creatively. The journals are crucial to demonstrate growth and progress through the passage of time. The Emotions journal will be used in conjunction with our SEL program, and daily check-in meetings. This is especially helpful for those shy students who aren't as verbally expressive, and whom prefer to express their emotions through drawing and writing. The white boards will be used daily with instruction in both literacy and math, in whole and small group learning. The other various literacy tools and games are essential for learning letter sounds, recognition, and phonemic awareness. This directly impacts reading and writing skills, crucial for building the foundation for reading and writing success. Students will also be sent home with a set of all supplies so that they can continue their learning at home, especially for use in homework practice and in the event that virtual learning is once again implemented. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful reading and writing. By implementing the materials, my students will begin to see themselves as young readers and writers! These supplies will enable me to promote a climate for love of reading and writing. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming life-long readers.
