Hundreds Charts and Number Lines for Success
Funded Nov 23, 2022Thank you for enhancing my first graders learning! These hundreds charts and number lines have made a huge impact on my classroom. The number lines came just in time as we were learning how to add and subtract on a number line. The hundreds chart has been so convenient for my students because they can turn to it whenever they need it. The hundreds charts are stickers and that has been a life saver. I do not have to worry about anyone losing one which is great!. We recently started learning about how to skip count on a hundreds chart and having a chart in front of them at all times has helped immensely!. Thanks to your donation my students education was enhanced and has helped my first graders learn better. Thank you for being willing to support our classroom but most importantly thank you for caring about their education.”

Let's Transform-Part 1
Funded Oct 28, 2022Thank you for always being so generous and supporting our classroom. The Donors Choose community always humbles me whenever they help us fund a project. I am not sure what I would do without the support from amazing donors like you. This project had lots of fun things that we got to use like the fedora hats and guitars for our Rock Your School day. The kids got so excited when they got to add a little spunk to their rock and roll outfits. We also got to use the rit dye and tshirts for our thanksgiving feast. My students loved decorating their shirts. Thank you for allowing me to create a safe learning environment for my students. Ultimately, I want my students to feel safe as they learn and I want them to love learning. These transformations really help with that and I am grateful for generous donors for allowing me to do that.”

Classroom Basics
Funded Oct 26, 2022Once again, a million thanks for your generosity and helping us get some classroom basics! When supplies run low it makes it difficult for us to make things. In my class, glue always runs low so quickly so when my students saw that we got more glue they were extremely grateful for our donors. The first thing they said was "We can make crafts again!" Having more supplies has made it that much easier for us to be able to get certain projects done. My favorite project that we made with the glue sticks was our turkeys for our Thanksgiving wall. Thank you for allowing us to do that and for giving my students the reassurance that they have the supplies that they need!”

Funded Sep 29, 2022Where do I begin? First and foremost, thank you. I can not thank you enough for generously donating to our Kindness Squad project. This has been one of my favorite projects and I am so excited to do this every year. This project has been special and has really created a sense of community in our classroom. Creating all the shirts with the materials I received was a lot of work but boy did that pay off. Weeding and ironing for a few hours made it worth it when I saw my students reaction to their shirts. My students absolutely loved their shirts and shouted for joy when they knew that our Kindness Squad was officially in full effect. The first time we got to use our Kindness Squad shirts was when our principal was out sick we took the opportunity to make her feel better cards. We wore our shirts and went to stick our notes on our principals door. The other chance we got to wear our shirts was when we went to clean up our play ground. We cleaned up enough garbage to fill up one industrial size garbage bag! The kids were so excited to clean our playground. Thanks to you we have created a sense of community in our class and I want to thank you for allowing me to teach my students about kindness and empathy.”

Funded Jul 22, 2022I am truly humbled by your support and I appreciate your willingness to give. The students have loved our flexible seating! We have been using the seats during independent work and they have been a hit. We have also been using them for our small groups and they have really helped keep the students engaged. The first time we pulled them out the students said "Wow! These are so cool!" There was something about changing their usual routine that kept the students engaged throughout the entire math lesson! Th flexible seating options have provided my students with a comfortable learning environment that is conducive to student collaboration and engagement. I truly am grateful for your support and for allowing me create a learning environment for my students that they can enjoy.”

Funded Jun 8, 2022Thank you for always being so kind and supportive! Your generosity goes a long way! The stem toys have been so helpful in our classroom! They have been great for our centers and for free play during rainy days. The students have loved using them for centers to practice things like counting and shapes. My students reaction to this did not disappoint! They sure where exactly to get the chance to use them. I always like to remind my students that we have amazing donors that are so kind and willing to donate to our classroom and I love to write down what they say. One student said "please tell them that they are the best!" Others said "these donors are so nice!" And ultimately they all said "Thank you donors!" Once again thank you for being so willing to support our classroom!”

Funded May 3, 2022First thing is first. Thank you so much. Your kindness means so much to me. My students and I are definitely using our lights! We use the soft lighting daily! I can see the difference between using our obnoxious fluorescent lights and our soft lighting. Once we transitioned from to our soft lighting our classroom felt so calm. The students reactions to the lights was so sweet. They loved walking into the classroom and most of them said "wow! Our classroom looks so nice!"
My students were extremely grateful and wanted to say "thank you" to all of our donors. It has been so great to not have to use the fluorescent lights that were so close to our eyes and for that we are grateful.”

Funded May 4, 2022Earth Day is everyday! Thank you for helping me give my students the chance to learn about Earth Day while having fun! My goal was use an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. Thanks to you I was able to execute that! This STEAM project helped my students have hands-on, integrated activities that made it so fun for them to learn about their environment.
I was blessed to have worked with a fellow first grade teacher to execute a fun classroom transformation. Lava Day helped me teach my students about Earth science using the hands-on materials and activities to keep my students engaged. With all of these materials, my students were able to collaborate with their peers, work together, and also learn while having fun! My students love to learn about the environment and were so excited when they came to school and our classroom floor transformed into lava! Thank you for being kind enough to donate to our classroom. I will forever be grateful for your willingness to give, but the ones that will remember it for an eternity is my amazing little first graders!”

Funded May 3, 2022Thanks to you we were able to implement a new classroom management system that was effective in managing student behavior. The students were able to learn in a better learning environment because they were exhibiting positive behaviors. The short while we had our behavior buddies helped enhance my students social and emotional development. It was amazing to see how one simple change to our environment made such a great impact. I wanted to try this classroom management system that focused on positive behavior. Each Behavior Buddy came with its own set of expectations. My students were so eager to follow these expectations so that they could get to have an animal on their desk for the day. The kids never knew who was going to be chosen, so they always made sure to be following the rules! My students were very motivated by these special friends!
My goal was to create a positive learning environment and these buddies did just that! Thank you for donating to project, you truly helped me be able to connect with my students on a social-emotional level and you helped me (a first year teacher) with my classroom management.”

Funded May 3, 2022We love books! Thank you to all you amazing donors for being so kind and allowing us to add to our classroom library. My students love to read and get excited when we get new books. Throughout the year my first graders have worked hard to build their reading skills and now that we are close to the end of the year we are putting those skills to the test. Choosing this book not only challenges my students but they get to read a fun book while using their reading skills. I chose Matilda because I remember being an elementary student and gained a love for reading with this book. This was one of those books that I could read repeatedly. I wanted to share a piece of my childhood with my students and thanks to you I am able to do that. As soon as we got the the books we got started and my students are already so intrigued! I am excited to finish this book with them before the school year ends. Thank you for allowing me to have a new book for our daily read aloud. I appreciate your kindness and willingness to give!”
