  • Alphabet Things and a Place for Me!

    Funded Jan 9, 2025

We have had so much fun using the things we purchased for our classroom. I was able to get all of the things I asked for and the kids have loved using them!

The giant magnet letters have been great for word building and phonics activities and the floor puzzles are so fun they use them every day during center time.

The new stools are great for using during small group time and also for extra seating when we need it for our older students that visit on Fridays.

Thank you for giving to us! It is appreciated and used so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burns

  • Things We Need in Kindergarten!!!

    Funded Sep 10, 2020

We are using all of the things purchased with our grant a lot in our classroom! We have used the watercolor paints during art class and to paint things like the "setting" of our favorite story.

The dry erase markers come in handy for practicing our handwriting and also writing our sight words. We have enough to use for the rest of the school year!

We are completely stocked up on construction paper for many things we will need during the school year. One of the pictures shows two of the students in our class wearing their vests and headbands we made at Thanksgiving!

We have used all of the things you helped donate and will continue to - thank you so much!!!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burns

  • Listen and Learn Our ABC's!

    Funded Aug 13, 2020

It was a GREAT day in kindergarten when our things arrived for our ABC activities. The best part was being able to get enough things to use in all four kindergarten classrooms!

We have been using our ABC activities every day after we teach our phonics lesson. It gives our students something hands on to do to build their awareness of letters and sounds. It is a great reinforcement activity to make sure they are all learning about letters and sounds every day!

These are things we can use year after year in our classrooms to help our students. The kids were so excited to have new, interactive things to play with to learn. They are learning and having fun!!!!”

  • A Special Spot for Me!

    Funded Apr 13, 2011

I would like to say thank you so very much for our classroom carpet. We have already put it to good use in our classroom over the last few weeks!

It has already made partner time so much easier during our morning readers and writers workshop time. Each student knows what row and color is their own special spot. We also have positioned it in the classroom so that it is close to our class Smartboard. This makes it easy to access this tool of technology during interactive word study and math lessons.

We have talked about taking really good care of it so that it will last for years to come! Thank you so much for helping us out!!!!! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burns

I am the proud teacher of 20 kindergarten students in Arkansas. My students are from a variety of language backgrounds and socioeconomic groups. But, as you walk into my classroom...we are a family! By spending time to learn about each other and our own cultures, we grow in our understanding of the world around us. We are a K-4 elementary school that is busting at the seams. Our curriculum is completely focused on the needs of each individual student. Reading, writing, and math curriculum is designed to follow a "workshop" design. Students gain new strategies for learning, try them out with hands-on learning, and share information with peers many times each day. The students love to talk about the things they have learned and will undoubtedly be better prepared to enter 1st grade! I like to describe my classroom as "organized chaos" with something exciting always going on! Always learning...always having fun!
