Exploring History With Technology

Funded Dec 21, 2021

Thank you to all who donated to this project for my students! When I first saw that people had given to my project, I was overjoyed because my students would have access to technology in the classroom and use this technology to explore History.

Since the arrival of the Chromebooks, there has been increased engagement in lesson activities, students have been conducting research for projects and presentations, and have used collaboration tools so that students can work together in real-time.

The students are so excited to have technology in the classroom because it makes it easier to teach to their different learning styles. The Chromebooks are being used for interactive class lessons on PearDeck where students can answer questions directly on the lesson slides, take class polls, and have immediate feedback. Many of my students love video lessons on EdPuzzle and creating infographics of topics of study on Canva. My students have reviewed for exams by playing Kahoot! online individually and in teams. This project has also made an impact on the English Language Learners in my classes, who can easily have their assignments translated to their primary language using Google Translate. The ability to use Google Translate for my students is also very helpful for me when it is time to grade their assignments.

I also advise the Student Government Organization at my school and the students have used the Chromebooks to create school flyers on Canva for school events. Having this project funded has truly helped with student learning and engagement. My students and I appreciate everyone who has funded this project, ensuring that my students can receive the same 21st-century educational opportunities as their peers.”

With gratitude,
