Integrating technology in the classroom should not be such a challenge – especially now where much attention is placed on college and career readiness. Available technology for our students should never be a scarce commodity. Technology offers inclusivity to all students regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds and broadens their scope of learning outside the four walls of a classroom. Many students do not have access to technology. Technology breaks down barriers and enhances learning opportunities, engagement and academic success, inside or outside of the classroom. The US Department of Education (DOE) noted that “every student in this country—regardless of socioeconomic status, race, or geographic location—is held to high learning standards that will ensure students have the skills to compete in today's global, knowledge-based economy.” (https://www.ed.gov/k-12reforms/standards). The U.S. Department of Education firmly attest that students should be prepared for the demands of the real world. That real world’s workforce requires that workers have basic computer skills such as teleconferencing software, project management programs, webpage creation, computer aided drafting experience, and more. Technology, specifically Chromebooks, will enhance learning in the classroom that will prepare students for the “real world” by equipping them with skills that will make them career or college ready.
