  • Fuel Their Focus!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

My co-teacher and I have used the snacks that you have donated as supplementals on the days when there is no access to snacks at school. There were mostly healthy snacks with allergy-free ingredients and the nutrition facts added to a healthier diet. The occasionally sweet treats were also welcomed by the children and their gratitudes were reciprocated with smiles.

The students have enjoyed the different variety of snacks for our end of unit celebrations. The snacks came packaged in brown boxes that were filled with shredded brown paper. This not only added to the aesthetic of what was hidden inside of the boxes, but it is also important to note that the packing was eco-friendly and recyclable.

On behalf of my students and myself, thanks again for your kindness and consideration.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dixon

  • A Special Work Space!

    Funded Sep 12, 2021

On behalf of my students and myself, I just wanted to say thanks for your donation which helped to provide for some lovely and practical pieces of furnitures that have benefited each student in my classroom.

The desk and flexible chairs are used daily for small group instructions and projects, sitting and reading books at the classroom library, and the flex chairs have even made it outside of the room into the hallway to provide comfortable seating for small guided reading groups.

To be honest, sometimes there have even been disagreements as to who gets to sit on the chairs on a particular day or often times a race to get to the desk and chairs first but unfortunately there just aren't enough to go around but we make it work with collaboration and teamwork.

The eagerness of my students to utilize these materials is the most gratifying of all. Thank you for bringing added comfort into our classroom and for giving us our little special place to read and learn.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dixon

As a special education teacher, these manipulatives will help the different types of learners especially tactile/ kinesthetic learners to be able to conceptualize mathematical problems by manipulating objects using methods and procedures. Lessons on fractions can be taught using fractions tiles, Cuisenaire rods or fractions circles. Students will be able to physically see parts of a whole using the rods, portions using fractions circles and how these segmented parts are relative to the whole. In doing so, they’ll be able to not only learn about fractions but decimals as well.
