Especially this year, students have lots on their minds; concerns about safety, friendships and academics. For many, students arrive to school looking for a safe space to recognize their emotions and respond appropriately. After being greeted at the door each morning, many of my students eat breakfast provided by school. This is the perfect time for them to make the transition from home and bus concerns to in-school learning. With these materials, students will be provided with more opportunities to have the space and choice they need to explore, problem solve and be creative. Then, they will be ready for a day filled with developing and mastering new skills.
