Students are able to problem solve and work on team building skills while having fun. Break out boxes (escape rooms in a box) create an opportunity for students to review class material and problem solve while engaging in a fun activity. Students solve puzzles, riddles and answer content based questions to open all the locks on their box. In past years Break out boxes have always been students favorite activities in class. Currently, I use home built wooden boxes for my break out box activities and only have 3. This creates large groups where not every students is able to participate actively. Having five boxes and more locks will give the opportunity for students to work in smaller groups where every student is able to engage in the activity.
