For my music classroom, I am asking for individual Casio SA-76 keyboards. These are 44 key mini keyboards that have ENDLESS possibilities. With organ, synthesizer, and piano settings students can create their own songs, figure out popular melodic riffs, and learn chords all from the little keyboard on their lap! They can even use the same little keyboard to create a backbeat to a song they are playing/ have created. Something I value as a musician is playing in a band and making music collaboratively. With last year being virtual, it was almost impossible to feel like students can collaborate with each other and truly connect through music. This year, that is my priority. With the Casio SA-76 keyboards, we will be able to learn songs as a class, using different instruments to make up each part of the song. A group of students playing the chords on the ukulele, a group playing the beat on bucket drums, a group singing, and (hopefully!) a group playing the main riff of the song on the keyboards. Students will learn the power of melody vs. harmony, lead part vs. background part and really be able to rock out. These keyboards will open up possibilities for my students. First learning simple melodies, then chords, then hopefully feeling intrigued enough to write their own music and transfer their skills to a full-sized keyboard/ piano. Thank you for seeing what a BIG difference these little keyboards will make for my curious and excited students!
