Social Emotional Learning
Funded Aug 2, 2023Thank you so much for these wonderful supplies! All of these materials came together to help my classroom function better! From organization, to communication my students are able to play and learn!
We were able to build binders for students with activities at their level. They are able to organize their work so it doesn't get lost. We were able to build communication materials called picture exchange system. My non-verbal students are able to select a card and ask for the things they want. This is important so that all students are able to communicate their wants and needs.
There are so many more things were able to do with the materials that you supplied. We read SEL stories and practice the concepts using board games. Which are also fantastic for teaching 1:1 writing correspondence, turn taking, winning, and losing.”
With gratitude,

Funded Nov 11, 2022Many of my students struggle with communication and are unable to communicate their needs verbally. One of the first steps to building their communication skills is through a picture exchange system. I also work with students that have difficulty understanding what is said to them. This same picture exchange system can be used to build a visual schedule. We were able to build a library of necessary cards to create a communication system for these students.
Using the picture boxes we built activity boxes. These activity boxes include academic skills that my students need to practice. These boxes are also activities that they can complete independently, giving them opportunities to practice in that area as well.
The final picture is of sand and toys in the sensory bin. This too serves multiple purposes. The 1st is that with hard work comes a well earned break. That break comes with an opportunity to practice social skills. Students can practice sharing, taking turns, and building together to make things.
Thank you for providing these materials to my students. The skills that they are building and the independence they are growing is in part due to this.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Hermon
