Mrs. Jones' First Grade City
Funded Aug 30, 2021The students in my class were so excited when the Magna-Tiles were delivered to the classroom! I opened the delivery box and took out the three boxes immediately. Each box contains 100 pieces. Students were in awe that there were a total of 300 pieces for them to use for their civil engineer project. We sorted the tiles according color and shape and then divided them equally among the students. The tiles were then added to the Magna-Tiles that students already had for their project. The additional tiles made it possible for my students to make elaborate buildings.
The students had learned about the career of a civil engineer through our district's World of Work program. They learned about how engineers help the community by creating necessary buildings for people to live, work, and play. Students selected a specific career professional and then designed a building where the career professional would work. They used Magna-Tiles to build their buildings, using the design that they had drafted on paper. This project has sparked an interest to build, in my classroom!
I am very thankful for your generosity and will use these Magna-Tiles often with my students!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Jones
