  • Middle School Motivators

    Funded Nov 22, 2022

It is with great excitement that we will be able to have the raffle for our social emotional positive behavior system. These motivating books, erasers, coloring books etc will not only reward past behaviors but will encourage future positive behaviors. It truly takes a community to educate students so the seventh grade team is thankful for your contributions.”

  • "Stay Gold, Ponyboy. Stay Gold."

    Funded May 19, 2022

We have met our goal. Thank you to everyone who donated money to purchase these books. The community support from Douglas has been truly amazing. Past students donated wanting the current students to have the same enjoyable they did is truly selfless. I am grateful to work in such a caring community.”

    With gratitude,

  • Perspective Connective

    Funded Nov 1, 2021

The reading of Ground zero will begin at the end of this month. The focus of this text was "see" different points of view. During the past two years students have been isolated with a small circle in which they socialized. Being empathetic has been difficult this year for many students. Their social emotional growth is lacking due to the pandemic. Oe way to develop that growth is to give students opportunities to learn about others and understand different perspectives.

This book is also especially important in light of what is happening in the Ukraine. I will be connecting it to current events to again support empathy.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ford

  • Read a Latte

    Funded Oct 12, 2021

The request for the resources from Teachers pay Teachers has been invaluable this year. The focus was to have students get back into a more "normal" school experience. One of the resources that I purchased was a readers theater of a Christmas Carol.

The four sections of my classes each took a Stave from the play and performed it. We are lucky in our school as we have an auditorium with all the bells and whistles. Student were able to be stage hands, directors and of course actors. The repeated reading of the lines helped all students with fluency.

Students have also written a response to which ghost influenced Scrooge the most. Having the ability to deepen their comprehension through repeated readings has been invaluable to the writing process as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ford

The engaging literacy activities that I can purchase from Teachers Pay Teachers will enable students to interact with classics, -Shakespeare in 30- participate in hands on learning, -escape room- and to write in an interactive manner. Students need so much more than to be asked to sit and read for 30 minutes. The resources available on Teachers Pay Teachers are invaluable to both me as an educator and to student engagement. English language arts has to evolve into dynamic learning for the 21 century learner. Students in this rural district deserve the best available resources out there so they can be competitive.
