Perspective Connective
Funded Nov 1, 2021The reading of Ground zero will begin at the end of this month. The focus of this text was "see" different points of view. During the past two years students have been isolated with a small circle in which they socialized. Being empathetic has been difficult this year for many students. Their social emotional growth is lacking due to the pandemic. Oe way to develop that growth is to give students opportunities to learn about others and understand different perspectives.
This book is also especially important in light of what is happening in the Ukraine. I will be connecting it to current events to again support empathy.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Dollar General Literacy Foundation and 9 other donors.Read a Latte
Funded Oct 12, 2021The request for the resources from Teachers pay Teachers has been invaluable this year. The focus was to have students get back into a more "normal" school experience. One of the resources that I purchased was a readers theater of a Christmas Carol.
The four sections of my classes each took a Stave from the play and performed it. We are lucky in our school as we have an auditorium with all the bells and whistles. Student were able to be stage hands, directors and of course actors. The repeated reading of the lines helped all students with fluency.
Students have also written a response to which ghost influenced Scrooge the most. Having the ability to deepen their comprehension through repeated readings has been invaluable to the writing process as well.”
