The portable projector I have chosen for this project will allow my speech students to interact with me and their peers through virtual lessons projected onto the wall of our therapy room. During the pandemic, we were able to interact through zoom along with educational sites such as BoomCards, Teachers pay Teachers, IXLearning, and Superteacherworksheets.com which provided me with the tools to keep my students engaged during therapy as we powered through such difficult times.
My students who have special needs would benefit greatly from a projector, as we have made measurable gains towards our speech goals with the use of technology. With this projector, I will be able to display several speech lessons created on BoomCards and on PDF documents. My speech kiddos who struggle to communicate will have the option not only to say the answers but also walk towards the displayed lesson and press the answer they choose; We will be able to sing along during musical lessons projected on the wall as well as watch short informational videos during lessons about animals and the planet. This projector grants our students an interactive method to engage with their peers and therapist as we always encourage them to learn while having fun. As we return back to school, please help me provide my speech students with the technology they need to access these interactive educational tools which have not only strengthened their communication skills but help built their self-esteem.
