  • Running Out of Ink stINKS!

    Funded Dec 13, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation so that our Kindergarten team could have new ink for our colored printer. We were so excited to get the printer and the when the ink ran out we had no way to print colored resources for our students at school.

We plan all subjects as a team and are able to share resources and print what is needed ahead of time. Most of the pages that we have printed have been for small group or independent practice of skills taught in a whole group setting. Many of our students are English Language Learners and benefit from visuals in all academic areas.

Whether it be for a whole group, small group or independent activity, the kindergarten teachers and students are so grateful to have a new color printer!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McColgin

  • Seat Sack Success!

    Funded Aug 9, 2024

Thank you so much for contributing to this project. My students were so excited to have a place to organize their materials right on their chair. I love that they can be organized and get what they need quickly without having to get up and walk around the room.

They especially love the name tag on the seat sack in the plastic sleeve that they can take out and use if they need it.

I was so happy to be able to give them a way to show responsibility and self reliance. Some of my students have never had to keep track of their belongings or do things without their parents' help.

Again, thank you so much for your donation. My students and I are so appreciative of your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McColgin

Thank you so much for contributing to this project. My students were absolutely thrilled every day when I surprised them with the items! They clapped and thanked you each day.

They especially loved the bubbles, jump ropes, popcorn, lollipops and water squirters! It was such a fun way to celebrate all of their hard work and our classroom community.

I was so happy to be able to surprise them each day with the letter of the day starting at A and ending at Z as they zoomed into first grade.

Again, thank you so much for your donation. My students and I are so appreciative of your generosity!”

They especially loved the mini erasers! They have used them to count and shows sets up to 20. They also use with the sound boxes when they segment sounds in a word. Now I have plenty of storage for them too!

I was so happy to be able to display my tens frames on my white board. They are magnetic and are readily available every day. We used the unifix cubes when counting groups of 10 up to 100.

Again, thank you so much for your donation. My students and I are so appreciative!”

  • Practice Makes Progress

    Funded Dec 8, 2023

Thank you so much for contributing to this project. My students were absolutely thrilled when I unboxed all of the materials. They really enjoyed being able to go to a preferred place in our classroom to get their work done.

They especially loved the cushions and use them multiple times a day. Learning how to ask for what they needed brought about an assertiveness that I didn't anticipate. With your donation, if they needed to leave their area to find a quite spot to work, they could.

I was so appreciative to have the materials for small groups that I need readily available. The use the spinners weekly and I love having the laminating film and plastic sheets ready to go when I make something new for them.

Again, thank you so much for your donation. My students and I are so appreciative!”

  • Celebrating First Grade Success!

    Funded Apr 26, 2022

The end of First Grade celebration week was a success! The kids worked hard all year and enjoyed celebrating together.

The first grade teachers each set up up 5 balloons with the name of the party written on a piece of paper inside. The kids had to pop the balloon and read what the special party would be that day. They loved the anticipation of not knowing and cheered each day when they found out what the fun would be.

The glow party was first and the kids were able to sing and dance with glow bracelets, necklaces and headbands. That was a fun celebration!

Other celebrations that first grade had were a popsicle party outside with sunglasses on the playground. We also made smores that were gooey and delicious. The popcorn and movie day was relaxing but the kids loved crunching on the popcorn as their snack.

Thanks again for supporting first grade at Mike Davis. The kids had a lot to celebrate and your donation made the last week special and memorable for the kids and teachers.”

  • We're All Ears!

    Funded Sep 27, 2021

Thank you for your generous donations for the headphones. My students were using ear buds that hurt their little ears, fell out, got tangled and broke easily. Now, they can comfortably use the headphones and there are enough for all students to have their own. They keep them in a gallon sized zip-lock bag and have pride in ownership, showing their gratitude.

My students are able to log on to their I Ready reading program daily and they can hear clearly what is being taught to them. They have the ability to turn the volume up and down as needed. The cushioned headphones are comfortable and just the right size for first graders.

Thank you very much for caring about my young students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McColgin

We are a Title I school with many English Language Learners, so my students are lucky enough to each be given a laptop for use at school. Unfortunately, they do not bring headphones to school and have to use very low quality earbuds that don't fit their little ears. The earbuds fall out of their ears, break and tangle easily, which is frustrating to first graders. Their learning grows as they participate in an engaging, differentiated reading program for 10-15 minutes a day. They also enjoy listening to screen recordings that I have made for them that give them extra practice in many different reading skills. Without good quality headphones, they won't benefit from any differentiated practice on their laptops because they cannot hear or waste time trying to untangle their earbuds.
