Our class is so excited to be back in the school building full-time this year! Learning at home on the computer gave us valuable computer skills, but it was hard to do things like solve math problems, practice writing, and draw pictures. Now that we are back in-person, we are hoping to be able to do those things in class together, and we would love to use individual whiteboards to do it. High expectations teaching is very important to us our school - our students are capable of great things, and we all know it. However, that doesn't mean we don't make mistakes. We all make mistakes, but with the right supports and sufficient effort, we can wipe away the mistakes and try again until we get it right. Whiteboards and erasers help us to visualize the clean slate we get when we make mistakes and try again. This way, we can make mistakes, get messy, and learn - without fear! These materials would be used in all subject areas to brainstorm, solve, write, model, practice, and assess. These magnetic whiteboards would also allow us to use magnetic math manipulatives such as fraction strips and number lines with more freedom to write, draw, and explore. In English Language Arts, our English learners in particular can use whiteboards to practice spelling, grammar, and punctuation without the frustration that comes along with seeing the mistakes you've made on your paper - one swipe of the dry-erase eraser and the confidence is back. In science, we can get a better idea of how the world around us works by drawing pictures and diagrams of volcanoes, tectonic plates, landforms, and plants. My students will love this hands-on experience in the classroom, and we appreciate your support.
