Library Technology Supports STEAM
Funded Aug 31, 2021With the addition of these four tablets, the library was able to expand its technology capacity from 2 devices to 4. Students are so excited to have technology in the library this year. We are a very traditional school district, and library has always equaled books. The pandemic has allowed us to expand our view and bring STEM and technology-based activities into the fold of library classes.
Every student learns differently. Struggling readers are able to access "Read with me" books through apps like Epic, or access my website of "virtual libraries" at www.mrslemanskyslibrary.com in order to access the books that their peers are reading. Our library doesn't yet have a Makerspace, but wonderful STEM apps like PBS' Play and Learn Engineering help facilitate multi-step problem-solving.
My students are particularly excited to record their own book reviews for books they have read. We can generate a QR code for the recording which other students can then access on the same device to help them decide if they want to read the book.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Lemansky
