This year in the Art room students will be learning about the printmaker Dox Thrash, his art and the technique that he invented. Students will learn how to create a printing plate using carborundum gel and experiment with several different printing techniques. My students will also explore the many ways that they express who they are and how they can channel that expression into art making. Students will develop drawings and collages of themselves and the times/places that are important to them. They will choose several of their drawings or collages to transfer onto a printing plate. and then they will experiment with a printmaking process. The inks and printmaking paper are essential to the success of this project.
