Many teachers are facing the realization that students are coming into their classrooms this year below grade level, I am one of those teachers! I am a distinguished teacher in my district and one thing I have learned is I can not be in 12 places at one time. Hence, I put a strong emphasis on data driven instruction and strong modeling in my classroom. Using the iPad and Apple Pencil will let me connect to data driven programs wirelessly, allowing me fluidity in the classroom to aggressively monitor student work and model skills for my students in real time. My students are horrifically behind and need quality modeling of skills and need to engage in various activities on their level to close gaps. This additional technology will allow me to monitor data and show students the skills they need to close the gaps they have and approach their grade level. For example, I do not have enough books to truly annotate and show students how to find the main idea of a paragraph. With the iPad and Apple Pencil, I could upload pictures of the text and annotate showing students how to engage deeper with the texts.
