Funded Sep 1, 2021Nearpod became an invaluable tool to my teaching when the pandemic forced us into remote learning. When we returned to in person learning in September, I wanted to continue to use this tool in my live classroom.
I teach in an ICT classroom, which has a combination of Special Education, English Language Learners and Mainstream students. Nearpod allows me to easily meet this very diverse group of learners where they are, in their style of learning and provide the supports necessary to increase their academic performance. I can easily combine various types of sources and media, including read-aloud text, videos and virtual tours, to allow all students to understand the content. Nearpod allows for real-time assessment of student understanding with a variety of both independent and group learning activities that then work to direct my teaching.
My students find Nearpod easy to navigate. They appreciate the different features, such as text reading and voice recording. They are even less likely to complain about a "quiz" when it is the form of race-to-the-top cartoon competition.
Both my students and I are extremely grateful for the Donors Choose donors that allowed the project to be successful.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Jimenez
