My students are full of energy and love to learn everyday. They love to come to school where they are safe and fed 2 hot meals each day. They are so grateful for what is given to them, and they are also very generous with what little they have. Most of my students come from low income/poverty homes. Being in a rural area, many of my students' care givers travel day to day to find work at different farms. Our school consists of primarily Hispanic students who face many challenges everyday, including a language barrier. Many of my students do not have the tools and supplies necessary to further their learning at home. Parents are unaware of what is expected of their child upon entering school but are willing to help when given the proper support. When these children come to Kindergarten, it is usually their first time ever in a formal setting where English is spoken all day. They are like little sponges and absorb information at a fast pace.
