Help Create a Calming Learning Environment for Rural Mathematicians
Funded May 2, 2023All of the materials for my project that were purchased with donations have been a wonderful addition to my classroom. When students enter the room, I now have materials to help them not only with their math skills, but with their social-emotional learning and growth as well. Adjusting to middle school can be hard, and at this age it is common for anxiety and other emotional challenges to make it even more difficult. The materials we have received help make this process a little easier on my students.
Some examples of the types of materials that have been purchased include tactile stickers, fidget bands for student chairs, aromatherapy diffusers, light covers, and colored pencils that represent diverse skin tones. There are a variety of challenges that students bring with them that go beyond just academic challenges. With these materials, students are able to practice coping skills for anxiety, inability to focus, sensory integration issues, and depression just to name a few. These items are not only useful, but fun for students to use and access. They are also materials that can often be used discreetly, which can be extremely important to middle school students.
With all of the pressures that have come along with COVID-19 and virtual learning, it has been an immense relief to have support from donors. Being able to purchase and provide students with high- quality learning materials and resources for their social-emotional development ensures that regardless of the challenges, we are still able to reach all learners and their needs. Purchasing these materials on our own is yet another added burden and cause of stress that teachers often carry on their own. Being provided help in this way may seem small, but it makes a tremendous impact on the teachers and students being supported!”

Help Bring Engaging Learning Resources to Rural Mathematicians!
Funded Aug 9, 2022All of the materials that I have been able to purchase with the Teachers Pay Teachers Gift Cards have been a wonderful success in my classroom. Students have been able to not only practice and review the math skills we have been covering in my math classroom, but they have also been working on continuing to develop their keyboarding and technology skills that they are learning in those classes. With the incorporation of these digital math activities, students have shown an increased level of engagement and understanding. They now even ask for these types of learning activities for practice and assignments!
Some examples of the types of activities that have been purchased with these gift cards are interactive forms with easily accessible tutorial videos embedded, digital escape rooms, scavenger hunts, "mystery picture reveals" and digital manipulatives to aid with problem solving and learning new math concepts. With these resources being both printable and digital, students can access these even at home when they don't have paper materials with them. This aspect has been a huge blessing for helping students who have been out of school due to COVID-19 and other illnesses, family emergencies, and other situations. These students have been able to keep up much better than years past, and don't have as much catching up to do when they are able to return to school.

Help Rural Students Build Financial Literacy Skills Needed for Success!
Funded Oct 13, 2021All of the financial literacy materials that I have received through these donations have been a wonderful success in my classroom. Students have been able to not only practice and review the math skills we have been covering in my math classroom, but they have been able to do so in a way that teaches them important financial concepts. With the incorporation of these financial literacy activities and materials, students have shown an increased level of engagement and understanding. The math skills they have already been working on are now connected to a topic, money, that is of interest and importance to them. Students are able to find relevance and make real world connections to the math concepts and skills they are learning.
Some examples of the materials that have been provided are financial literacy board games, a wide range of books covering various topics related to money and financial literacy, bingo games, and other hands-on manipulatives for learning and practicing integer skills. These materials provide not only hands-on experiences, but also encourage group work and problem solving. Increasing students' confidence in these areas also benefits the social-emotional aspects of school and learning, which we know has been greatly impacted since the pandemic's beginning. These materials also lend themselves easily to being incorporated into activities beyond just those for financial literacy, making them even more valuable.
With all of the pressures that have come along since COVID-19, it has been an immense relief to have support from donors. Being able to receive and utilize high-quality learning materials and opportunities with students ensures that we are making every effort to catch up students who have suffered from a loss of learning due to the pandemic. Purchasing these materials on our own is yet another added burden and cause of stress that teachers often carry on their own, and this program takes some of that burden away and lightens our load.. Being provided help in this way may seem small, but it makes a tremendous impact on the teachers and students being supported!”
