Because of the loss in instructional time, my students have experienced academic and social challenges. To help remediate these challenges, I have been using evidence-based literacy and math instruction. This includes focused interventions designed to teach important skills in an engaging yet effective way. For example, I have been using literacy activities from the Florida Center for Reading Research. These center-based interventions are designed to teach the five elements of reading in a way that is social, interactive, and fun. And most importantly, my students love them! I have experienced great success teaching phonemic awareness, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and phonics with these fun interventions. Although the Florida Center for Reading Research is a free resource, I still need many resources to create the activities. For example, I need card stock, laminating sheets, printer ink, chart paper, markers, pocket charts, and resources for storage. To help increase the efficacy and engagement of my students during math instruction, I am requesting several hands-on math resources and manipulatives. My students learn best with engaging and concrete representations of math concepts. These resources will increase my student’s participation and understanding of their math interventions.
