As mentioned, many students with exceptionalities have difficulty processing sensory information. These students are especially sensitive to sensory information and can be made uncomfortable and overwhelmed easily by environmental stimuli. This can make it hard for children to succeed in school. Simple changes to the classroom environment, that can be made with the items in this project, can greatly increase a students ability to feel comfortable, secure, and focus in the classroom. The goal of using these sensory supports is to increase the level of alertness or comfort students need to attend and focus on their learning in the classroom.
