Wow, it has been about two years since your generous donations, but I am just now discovering this part of the Donor's Choose journey. I just wanted to thank you for what you were able to accomplish back in 2021-2022. Students received boxes of extra books, and these students liked to read! Unboxing was a treat. Any book they wanted could go home, and some were never seen without a book. It was a relief to give them the choices they needed on the class bookshelf. Wishing you the best, and thank you again.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Dollar General Literacy Foundation and one other donor.

Good books encourage students to become good readers. Students need guaranteed access to proven titles to not only have books that interest them, but stories they will be willing share with each other and friends they have not met yet. Books can stay in the classroom, and occasionally go home. What is most important is that books are available and present in the classroom and the essential reads Scholastic book set, as well as the wonder of the Caldecott winners list will go a long way toward meeting this goal.
