Headphones for All!
Funded Sep 18, 2024Thank you so much for your generosity! My students come from all over the world and have to deal not only with adjusting to new culture, weather, school, societal norms, but they are also expected to learn how to speak, read, write and understand directions in English in a very short period of time.
In my class we use multiple different programs that help students to learn their listening and speaking skills. To practice these skills they need to use the headsets with microphones, so they can practice speaking. They also can listen to the books and texts while in class. The headphones are also used by my students with reading disorders, like dyslexia. They are able to listen to pre-recorded directions and texts and respond to the questions.
My students and I are very grateful for your donation that helped us to buy the headsets. Now my students are able to practice their English skills daily, independently and at their own level of English language proficiency!”

Funded Sep 12, 2024My students and I are very grateful for your generous donation and the opportunity for us to have a calming corner. We arranged the pillows in the corner in the class together with weighted animals and toys. The students are able to use these resources at any time of the day. They sit in the corner on the pillows when they read or do independent work and use toys and weighted animals when they work at the desks.
They also enjoy sitting in the calming corner when they have some free time.
I want to thank you for this great opportunity for our students to have this peaceful place they can always turn too when they are distressed. They are in love with the weighted animals and carry them around the class. Even the kids that fidget the most are able to relax and calm down while using the toys and pillows. Thank you very much for making this happen!”

Funded Jan 5, 2024Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. The students have been thrilled to see boxes of books coming in. There are even more to come as well!
These stories in Spanish, Portuguese and Nepali will help the students learn to comprehend what they are reading and to use new vocabulary. They will be used in conjunction with their home language dictionaries to reinforce the learning of the English language. They will also be used for free reading time to ensure inclusivity of all languages.
Thank you again for your support.”

Funded Dec 3, 2022My students and I would like to share our deep appreciation for the opportunity you gave for my children to access reading materials in their own language. The research proves that developing literacy skills in your own language promotes the faster and more effective learning of other languages, and I am very grateful that you gave the chance for me to create a literacy library for my kids.
Students have an access to our classroom library every day and twice a week we have focused learning lessons when students have to pick a book for reading in class and at the end of the class they have to answer questions using their reading journals. Living in the United States and not having access to many things from their countries, their faces lit up when they are able to pick up a book that offers them an opportunity to read in their language and get back in touch with their culture.”

Learning to Love the English Language
Funded Sep 18, 2021I would like to take a minute to thank each and every one of you for your generosity. My school district receives new English learners every week and my classes are continuously growing, so the dictionaries have arrived just in time for our growing class sizes.
My newcomers rely on the dictionaries everyday, whether they work with the vocabulary, read the text or write their own stories. They also use these dictionaries for their Math, Science and Social Studies subjects, as well as when they prepare for their oral presentations.
So, thank you for your help. You gave the chance to my students to grow and expand their language skills. They use the dictionaries every day and they cherish them. Thank you from all of us for your support of English Learners”
With gratitude,
Ms. Vargas
