  • Math Manipulatives, Centers, Sensory Supports and More!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

My students will be so excited about learning and growing with these new hands on materials!! Thank you so much for giving to our school and our community! The school year is just beginning and we have a lot of work to do. We know we can learn and grow as young humans with support from people like you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Day

  • Multisensory Learning

    Funded Oct 11, 2022

We're in a new school year but I wanted to reach out and make sure you know how thankful I am for your support! The tools purchased last year for students are either in the hands of students from last year, supporting students in my school this year, and/or still "living" a good life within my small classroom where I work with a variety of students with skills of all different levels! The wonderful thing about my job as a special education teacher is that I get to work with so many different students and see how wonderful each and every one of them is! Thank you for helping to support me while I support the ongoing learning and growth of all students, no matter their age, access points, and needs!

The tools for social/emotional learning and regulation are always high-interest items and all students gravitate to these tools (or as they call them, 'toys')! For some students, these 'toys' are the key to helping them access basic reading and math skills while helping them build connections with their teachers and peers. Curriculum and digital/technology resources like Osmo Learning help students learn through play and the use of technology! Sand trays, different textures and colors of sand, and other hands-on materials help students to connect abstract concepts such as letter sounds to more concrete pictures of the letters and help them to begin hearing sounds in words to write letters and words and build basic literacy skills they need.

Please know that whether you have supported me in the past few years or this year, I am forever grateful for your kindness, generosity, and passion to support the success of all students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Day

  • Multi-Sensory Fun for Reading and Math

    Funded Feb 21, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity to my students! These materials will support our multisensory approach to learning in both reading and math. My students will be so very excited when I tell them that more sand trays and screens for writing are on there way to us. The Osmo game will be an extra special bonus surprise! Thank you so much for thinking of my students and helping me to support their learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Day

  • Tools for Success for All Learners

    Funded Aug 21, 2021

Thank you so much for your kind and generous donation to support students at Sable Elementary with needs in social/emotional wellness and sensory processing. Students are using the items purchased as tools to help them regulate emotions, remain focused to academic lessons and tasks and also as an incentive for making good choices and completing assigned tasks.

As soon as students noticed all of our new tools, they were so excited! We had to take some time to just let kids play with all of the tools and resources that we received. Of course, each student has a favorite tool but we share all of the items with any student that enters our classroom. It's so fun to see how creative students can be with the magnatiles and the kinetic sand. In addition, it's allowed teachers to sample different tools to find what works best for each student and what we may want to look at in the future.

We are always trying to find the next resource that will help all students attain success in academics, emotional regulation, social skills, communication, motor skills and self-advocacy. I'm hoping to find some creative learning tools in my next project and appreciate your generosity more than you could ever know! Thanks from this teacher and her students!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Day

Sensory tools and fidgets support students when focusing on learning and/or when particularly difficult lessons become more frustrating. Sometimes students need to work for a specified amount of time and then may need some time to take a break from non-preferred tasks and difficult academic tasks by using sensory tools. It's important that all students have access to tools to support their learning both in and out of their grade-level classrooms. Students often need time to self-regulate their emotions when learning gets more difficult and a variety of calming tools will support all students succeed.
