As a first-year teacher, I am constantly finding new tools and learning what will work best for the unique set of learners in my classroom. Upon having finished our first few weeks recently, I found that I was consistently running back and forth around our classroom to fulfill student requests for worksheets that needed to be restarted, blank pieces of paper for drawing, and other miscellaneous needs. I began to realize that this process was not only distracting to my students but also myself. Moreover, in requiring students to depend on me for their worksheets, returned work, and other requests, I have been enabling students to sit back and relax while I do the work for them. In supplying my classroom with several organization drawer carts, I will be able to teach my second graders how to be autonomous in their learning and teach them how to address their needs independently from me. These carts would help save much wasted time in the classroom (as well as my sanity!) Please help me create an organized space in which students are accountable for their own needs and requests.
