My students will be using this book in a multitude of ways. With a class set, each student will have their own copy to use during class, and will get to experience that brand-new book feeling they haven't gotten to experience with a full class set before. I anticipate that this will encourage the content to be received in a very special way and set the grounds for a reflective experience. Our content objective with this book is to discuss the elements of narrative (for example: plot, conflict, protagonist/antagonist, theme, perspective, tone, and author's purpose). In addition, we will be creating our own memoirs or narratives about a time in our lives that we stood up for what we believed in, or what we thought was the right thing to do. The resources we have at our disposal are outdated. Since my students have expressed a particular interest in the current events in the Middle East, and the climate of social justice in our own country, this book that inspired me felt like a perfect opportunity to engage them with content they can make meaning out of.
