Thank you to everyone who donated! The students and counselors at Washington Irving Young Adult Borough Center are going to benefit so much from your generosity. We appreciate your thoughtfulness. Your contribution will not be overlooked and these supplies will, of course, be put to the best of use for the students. We are so excited to utilize these brand-spanking new supplies to learn new coping strategies and to support students who want to do better in school and in the classroom!!! The on-going Covid pandemic and the persistent inconsistencies our students are facing only add to the already existing stressors and traumas. Resources have been identified to assist my students cope with the higher levels of anxiety, lower levels of self-esteem, increased identity confusion, and more complex socio-emotional relationships that they are currently experiencing as they attempt to navigate the messy and confusing transition to in-person learning. I will be utilizing all materials to develop individualized short-term counseling to students identified to be "high-risk" who require a stronger foundation to ensure they feel safe and supported as they make their way back to the physical classroom.
