Even with access to social media, students are not able to read news about current events that affect their daily lives. I used Scholastic News when I was in school and I greatly enjoyed the various articles and tidbits each issue had. It gave me a better view of the world. Reading Scholastic News will give my students a better understanding of current events and how it affects them on a daily basis. Students need to learn about events happening around the world and in their own local areas too.
