Over the recent years and because of COVID, students have been connected to technology. With these supplies, my goal is to regain the magic of children holding books. My students are fascinated by so many different topics, keeping up with them can be quite the task. Every learner is different, so ensuring that every child has a book that not only interests them, but is in their reading level, is essential to captivating their interest. In my classroom, students spend the first 15 minutes of class reading a book with a partner. Often times, students start a book and end up not liking it or finding it too advanced. Instead of forcing them to finish out the book, students should be able to replace that book with something they enjoy. Reading should be fun for everyone! These supplies will not only give students options, but ensure that they have the environment to sustain their interests. I also included organization materials in my list, such as book bins, book marks, and writing materials to track their progress. Many students struggle to stay focused reading, so I've included some flexible seating options such as stools and wobble chairs to help them. During the trying times of COVID, I have seen what reading can do for students. To be able to forget about the world and immerse yourself in a book is a skill that students are now starting to learn. With these resources, students will understand the importance of reading through adversity.
