  • Learning to Read Can Be Fun

    The reading activities that you purchased helped impact a variety of students at Lahontan Elementary who were needing extra support in learning to read. The activities made learning fun and engaging for them. Many of the students who used these reading activities did so in small groups with reading interventionists. They are easily used by tutors who come over from our local high school to work with our kindergarten and first grade students. Students were excited and eager to use these activities.”

  • Activities to Make Reading Fun

    The literacy activities that I was able to purchase with your generous donations has allowed our high school tutors to use meaningful and engaging activities with our kindergarten and first grade students. Our students look forward to meeting with our high school tutors throughout the week and using the fun activities. Our kindergarten and first grade students have enjoyed practicing their reading skills with the fun activities and there has been noted improvement with their ability. The combination of having high school tutors and engaging literacy activities has really helped our students find success.”

    This classroom project was brought to life by Nevada Department of Education.
Due to Covid and limited instruction time last year, many of the students at my school are entering kindergarten and first grade with much lower abilities than in the past. These literacy activities will support students in being proficient in many Nevada Academic Content Standards as well as preparing them to be successful readers. These activities will be easily implemented with students by myself as well as high school tutors who work with students at my school. They will also provide fun and engaging way for students to practice their reading skills.

About my class
