Attracting Our Dreams in 2025!
Funded Dec 10, 2024On January 9, 2025, creativity and enthusiasm spread in the classroom as the girls created their 2025 vision board! The sight of colorful stickers, magazine pages, positive quotes spread on the desks stirred up excitement in the room. Before the girls has their chance to create their own, I shared my 2024 vision board making experience as I held up my frame for them to see.
After sharing about my own vision board making experience, I distributed a vision board organizer template so that they could brainstorm what they wanted to portray on their board prior to adding on any visuals. Then the fun began when they could choose from the array of stickers, pictures and quotes laid out on the desks.
The activity was scheduled to end at 5pm, but some of the girls wanted to continue putting together their board, so an extra 15 minutes was allotted to them. The final touch of the day was taking a picture of each of the girls holding their framed vision board with pride.”

Energize to Elevate
Funded Sep 18, 2024The girls and I used the new mats for the first time at our Thursday morning meeting on Halloween Day! The dance teacher generously shared her dance room with us to have enough space for the mats. Prior to playing a 10-minute yoga video, we had a discussion about the benefits of practicing yoga, even if for 10 minutes. For some girls, it was their first time engaging in a yoga activity but tried to follow along. Others were familiar with the practice and found it beneficial doing yoga to start their school day.
The next steps for the girls and I is to plan another yoga day in the dance room. I will play a different 10-minute yoga video again and have another discussion to gather their feedback. I would also like to acquire a cart that will make it easy to transport the mats from the second floor to the first floor. All in all, the girls appreciated the mats and look forward to another yoga day!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community & an Anonymous Partner and 10 other donors.More Than Just a Math Class
Funded Mar 10, 2023Your generous contribution has made it possible for students to receive full audio of instructional lesson videos and online exams in the classroom! Now, I am able to provide students a set of headphones to enhance their learning in the classroom. I keep a set of headphones available, and students know where to find them and return them. Exposing the students to Google's Applied Digital resources has helped them to learn about other digital resources besides Office 365 that they can apply in school.”

"Disconnect to Reconnect"
Funded May 25, 2022I am using the resources in my 8th grade homeroom this year. Fridays in HR are "Board Game Day" when the students have successfully followed directions during the week. I display the expectations during play time, including disconnecting from their phone. They have the choice to move next to their friends to use the resources as well. Designating time for the students to play and socialize not only supports their social and emotional wellness, but it helps me to build a community of respect and sharing within my classroom.
All my students have demonstrated enthusiasm while they play. When they first say the resources, they looked surprised that they would have the option to use or choose the game. I would like to collect more board games via this platform or donations to give my students more choices to play with.
There is a strong vibe of positivity in the classroom on "Board Game Day", and that in itself is a great reward!”

All 4 One!
Funded Dec 23, 2021Thanks to your generous contribution I am able to offer my 6th, 7th and 8th grade students an engaging and collaborative experience with the dry erase boards. Asking students to respond on the board by a certain amount of time allows me to gauge their understanding and provide them with immediate feedback. For example, when we play "All 4 one" students work in teams of 3 to resolve a problem displayed on the promethean board in a certain amount of time. After the timer stops, and I say "All For One" the students raise their board to show me the answer and I will award points to the teams in which all the members show the correct response. Creating experiences that involve competition, especially for middle school students has proven to increase engagement and motivation in my class.
Prior to using the materials I had the students use sheet protectors instead. After surveying them on which material they preferred to use in class, they answered that they preferred the dry erase boards because it was easier to write on.
As we are approaching the state tests scheduled for May, I am utilizing these materials to engage all their senses and with the intention of helping them remember problem solving strategies.”
