  • Imagination Drawing Station

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Students have been able to learn modern illustration software and better understand how to translate their physical drawings into a digital context. Having access to the Ipad you provided has allowed students to find their preferred medium and possibly opened a new career direction they may have otherwise not known of.

My students have loved the ability to use the device as a digital camera and animation device. They have done various projects including a mural design proposal and a clay animation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Altemus

  • Drawing Tomorrow Today

    Funded Dec 17, 2023

Access to a digital drawing tool is allowing my art students a better understanding of how to use hand pressure in the digital context of drawing. They are able develop a muscle memory and create digital coloring techniques more intuitively now.

What most exciting for my eager students is being able to create in a larger more conformable and realistic environment. Most of the students only have access to their phone and fingers to digitally create so using a modern drawing pen has been super impactful for them.

I have a student who is deeply invested in digital art and has been able to create many pieces with the new apple pens.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Altemus

  • From Pencil to Digital Design!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

My students loved the experience of translating their traditional drawings into a digital context. Through the Ipad device they were able to learn how to use modern day drawing software to create a digital illustration. We discussed graphic design and illustration as a career avenue they could take and explore in college. They were able to experience the time and patience it requires to make a digital work and how a digital image can be built upon in a video and marketing context. The students showed great interest in making more digital drawings/illustration during the remainder of the school year!”

  • Pulling for One at a Time and Screen Prints

    Funded Sep 16, 2021

As a teacher when I received notice that my proposal was funded I felt a sense of support and gratitude that contributors saw purpose and meaning in the work I do. I also felt a sense of excitement when I received the physical materials to incorporate a new project into the course curriculum.

The support given has enabled my students to master the process of screen printing. I led the students through the various steps of creating a bold printable logo starting from the stages of design to completion and explored the contexts of screen printing including its uses in the commercial art world. "Pulling for One at a Time and Screen Prints" definitely had a large impact on the student's learning experience as evidenced by reactions such as "wow, thats cool!" once they saw the image revealed. The facial expressions of the students additionally lit up .

Again, your generosity has been invaluable and will continue to enable future creatives to learn, gain confidence and the skills needed to create a portfolio of work.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Altemus

The supplies gifted to my students will further their knowledge of materials and what kind of purposes different tools may be used for. The requested supplies will be used for lesson related to the design stages. Students will explore the design cycle from start to finish, producing shirts, cards, logos and other forms of graphic products. The students will start by brainstorming and sketching out their ideas. Their final design will then be transferred from a sketch into color form. The gouache and micron pens will allow the students' color scheme to be explored and refined. Once complete, the students will be able to screen print their work into a multitude of printed formats.
