Research shows that there are many benefits of language learning. Students learning a second language have shown to perform better academically and develop superior attention and memory. That is exactly what I am trying to support with a class set of Percy Jackson: Ladron del Rayo. My dual immersion students have a wide variety of needs in their reading and writing instruction in Spanish. Some of them entered my classroom reading and writing fluently and others entered with additional support needed. A class set of Percy Jackson: Ladron del Rayo will help me provide my students with equitable access to literature that reflects and values bi-literacy. It will provide them with the academic skills necessary to successfully perform on tasks that involve divergent thinking, pattern recognition, and problem-solving; abilities to compete and succeed in our multilingual global marketplace.
