Calculate and Build!
Funded May 9, 2023My entire Geometry class is thankful for all the donors who provided them with the tools to build and explore. Building a bridge with popsicle sticks was their first high school project for many. A simple task like such to many will be an unforgettable experience. You also allowed my students to feel confident calculating geometric calculations using their TI-94 plus ce calculators.
Tactile projects are not only fun but enhance the learning opportunities for students with disabilities and make learning fun and explore their creativity. Allowing my students to dive into the field of STEM and engage in a different type of learning enables students with disabilities to learn in a rigorous academic setting with real-world lessons as they apply concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.”

Funded Nov 10, 2021Since receiving your gracious donation of history posters, maps, history handouts, and highlighters, my students have been able to dive deeper into history. For February, especially my students experience Black History month and Lunar Year differently.
My students were able to build their lunar year lanterns and experience a new cultural celebration. They were also able to research famous African American leaders using our new classroom posters and part-take in a classroom scavenger hunt.
Since receiving our classroom maps and posters, my students constantly use them as a reference as they learn about the American Revolution, The Civil War, and the Civil Rights Movement. It is truly a joy when students refer to our President poster as they learn about a new President.”

This classroom project was brought to life by #TeachHealthy with Nature Made.A Rainbow of Books!
Funded Aug 21, 2021Since receiving your generous donations of books, our classroom library has become so bright. My students are part of the special education department and have different reading levels. Thus having a library that accommodates each student's reading level is fantastic. The variety of books that students have has helped them become more interested in reading.
One of my students' favorite activities is Power Read. They silently read for 15 minutes as their daily warm-up. Students enjoy having a moment to catch up on their favorite book. Many have mentioned how therapeutic it is to have silent reading right at the beginning of class. Another fun activity students engaged in was practicing how to quote passages from different texts. Each student is assigned to have at least six random quotes from various books following the proper MLA quote format for this activity. Many students enjoyed the activity because they were able to learn by touch and exploration.
Lastly, receiving the variety of books has made it easier for my struggling readers to grab a book that matches their reading level. My students have become more confident as they engage in reading material that does not cause them to become frustrated. These books have also served as informal class assessments. I can observe students' current reading levels without providing them with testing workbooks that can become overwhelming for special education students. Overall my students and I are grateful for your kind and generous donation of books. These books have made it possible for my students to engage in fun classroom activities and become better readers.”
