Imagine walking into a classroom and hearing your friends discuss a current event you know nothing about. They might laugh or show excitement about the topic but you struggled to do so. You try to include yourself in the conversation, but it's difficult and confusing so you leave the conversation. Now imagine a current event being discussed with your friends, guided by your teacher, and supported with technology that helps you read the age-appropriate event. My goal is to provide my students with access to age-appropriate current events while promoting their reading needs. I will be able to use the digital and print subscriptions to Scholastic News to accomplish this goal. Every day my students experience the world differently from each other. Their unique perspectives allow us all to learn from each other. Current events are a topic that many of my students discuss, but not all have age-appropriate or accurate access to them. Thus, they are excluded from those conversations. With your help, we will provide this access to my students.
