  • I've Been Framed!

    Funded Sep 9, 2024

I have been busy framing student artwork in our new frames!

As the students walk down the hallways and see their art, or the artwork of a classmate, in a professional frame the excitement on their faces is contagious :)

We will be having our annual Spring Art Show in April. At that time we will have approximately 75 framed works for our student's parents, and our community to enjoy. The highlight of our art night is definitely the framed student work. Those pieces are the foundation for our art night which includes art that families can do together, lessons by teachers in their classrooms, face painting and more!

Thank you for helping to make our art program such a success.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ward

  • Making Art is Sharing Our Feelings with Others

    Funded Aug 19, 2023

Thank you so much for the art frames for my student's work! They were so excited when we opened the boxes and they saw the professional frames that their work would be displayed in. Our hallways are now lined with work that has been created by our students.

As we have parents, visitors and our regular students and staff going throughout the building during the day they LOVE to see their work hanging on our walls. The kids have a greater sense of self esteem and pride knowing that they are "real artists".”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ward

  • The Frame is the Reward for the Artist

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to our frame project for all of the beautiful art that our students are doing this year. Our hallways are now lined with framed student artwork!! The kids feel like real professionals when they see their work framed and hung around the school. We will be having a parent art fair night in April. The kids are so excited to be able to walk their parents and grandparents around the school and show them their framed art--hanging on the walls like real professional artists.

Thank you again for contributing to our art program and the self-esteem of our students.”

    With gratitude,

  • Art From the Start.....Take Two!!

    Funded Apr 5, 2022

We started studying master artists last year. With your generous support we have been able to add the works of 8 more master artists to study this year.

As the students enter the building each morning there is a painting in the entry of a master artist. They LOVE to stop and study the paintings. Each teacher then does an in depth study of the artist and the students each create a "master work" of their own in that artists style.

The first artist that we studied this year was Andy Warhol. He is well known for his Campbells soup can art. A parent stopped me in the hall and said that her daughter was in the pantry when she looked up and said, "Mom!! we have Andy Warhol soup!"

    That is art internalized.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ward

  • Coloring, Painting, and Drawing Outside the Lines

    Funded May 3, 2022

Having a large variety of art supplies has made a huge difference in our art program already this school year. As we study master artists and the elements of art we will be able to implement a variety of media in order to maximize our creativity.

When my students entered the art classroom this year and found brand new crayons, watercolors, paint brushes, oil pastels, etc., they were beyond excited. They have been used to using old used materials and new ones made such a difference in both their work and their feelings of self worth.

Thank you so much for your generous support of our school.”

  • Art From the Start!

    Funded Aug 30, 2021

Thank you so much for the support that you gave to my project and to our students this year! They are learning so much about different artists and have been able to do a variety of different art projects using many types of media.

Each month I put up a painting by our Artist of the Month at the front entrance of the school. Students regularly stop and look at the paining. Next to the master artist work I also display projects that the students in our school do as they study the artists works. Seeing their creativity has been amazing.

Quick story...last month my class painted pictures of a moose with Christmas ornaments hanging off of his antlers. One of my students came up to me after hers was done (it didn't quite turn out looking like a moose). She said "Mrs. Ward, my moose is a Picasso". I loved that she didn't see it as wrong or bad, just different! Art internalized.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ward

The art works by famous masters already have a home in our school. At our front entrance we already have a large display of children's art that is done daily throughout our school. I am going to add a "masters corner" to that art area. I have an art easel where I will display the art once it arrives at our school. As a school we will focus on one master each month. Teachers and students will learn about the master artist, read his or her biography, and then recreate a work by that artist. We will then display our various projects on bulletin boards around the school. Each month students will be able to take a "field trip around the school", to see a variety of works by the artist that they have been studying. Then, as they arrive and depart the school each day they will be able to see a real work by the artist they are studying in class. The donations to this project will give our students a tangible example of a master artists work. The works that I have selected include visual arts, dance, music and drama. My goal is to broaden the awareness and increase the appreciation of the fine arts to the students in our school. It is my belief that this is essential to learning, now as elementary students and well into their futures.
