  • Terrific Task Box Library

    Funded Apr 21, 2023

From the bottom of my heart, I truly appreciate the generosity from all the donors that supported my project. Having these items will ensure my students will have appropriate independent work stations set up for next school year. This project will not only help my students but the three other self contained classrooms at our school! Once again, thank you for your amazing contribution to our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carter

  • Cozy Up With A Good Book

    Funded Oct 19, 2022

Thank you for your generous contributions to fund our Donor's Choose project, "Cozy Up With a Good Book." Since receiving the items, the students have really enjoyed the new space that was created in the classroom. Students are able to cozy up during indoor recess, at the end of the day, and when they finish their work early.

Students love the bright and colorful "Really Good Stuff" book bins. The bins came with labels, so students are able to easily find a book of their choice. Having the round color coding circles have made book returns a breeze. Students are able to quickly match the colored circle on the book to the coordinating bin. I don't know why I never thought of that before!

The brightly colored JELA Kids Couch and nulLOOM handprint rug have been a magnet for the students to enjoy some chill time. Maybe they earned a break, need a break, or just want a comfy place to put their feet up and read; this piece is a focal point in the room that students gravitate to--my #1 goal for this project!

Once again, thank you so much for you thoughtfulness and dedication to the children in our community. I truly appreciate the amazing space you have been able to give my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carter

  • Headphones for Active Engagement

    Funded Dec 31, 2021

I would like to take a moment to thank all the donors for choosing my project, Headphones for Active Engagement, to fund! You generous donations helped me receive 20 pairs of Bluetooth Over-Ear Headphones. I truly appreciate your commitment to students and teachers across our country. Although they are just headphones, the impact they have in my classroom with my students is huge!

Having wireless headphones has been MAGIC and after almost a year of use are STILL working! School provided headphones did not last that long with my students. Either the cords broke or the ear cover came off. If the ear cover comes off the new headphones they just POP right back on. Students are able to spend more time FOCUSED on their computer programs during independent work then fidgeting with cords or picking at the foam ear covering. Having these Bluetooth headphones with a microphone gives the students the ability to follow their reading program with fidelity. The particular reading program we use, records them saying letter sounds and reading words. Also, because they are comfortable and block out sound, some of my auditory sensitive students wear them to block out the extra noises such as street traffic, hallway noises, and even during a fire drill alarm.

I am so grateful to have these Bluetooth headphones for my students to use throughout the day. Once again, THANK YOU for your donations. It means the world to me and my students that they have the appropriate tools to access their educational programs.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carter

Prior to the pandemic, the classroom was set up with a computer area. Students shared computers and headphones and were able to either engage in online instructional programs or just take an earned break. Now that we are back to in-person instruction, all my students have their very own computers--which is really exciting! Throughout the day, students have the opportunity to work on a variety of platforms for reading, writing, math, and even social skills! Two of our new reading programs require headphones with a microphone--Unfortunately, these types of headphones were hard to come by, poor quality, and did not last long for some of my students. Having quality wireless headphones will ensure my students' ability to complete their online reading and math programming with fidelity. Many of my students fidget with the headphone wires which, over time, ends up being the main reason they stop working. I have also had a few students accidentally break the headphone jacks inside their computer. I hope by having wireless headphones, problems like these will be avoided. Since each student their own computer and pair of headphones, I do not have a place to store them properly. Throughout the day, headphones are often hanging off desks or are on the floor. The headphones I am asking to be donated come with a protective case for storage! This will be a lifesaver not only for added protection when not in use but they will fit in their desk or can be collected and stored safely!
