Adding a reading center and art center to our classroom will help my students learn how to play together. They will learn how to share books from a bookshelf and create art together on an easel. This may seem simple to most people, but sharing and playing with others is a tough skill for my kids, many of whom have experienced trauma or are isolated due to their disabilities. Art and reading help students with disabilities learn how to interact appropriately with each other in the classroom and the world.
